Max and Maritz host a dinner party

to celebrate Max' 62nd birthday

and to usher in the season of joy

Residence of Max and Maritz

December 2, 2007

Max, the birthday celebrant, with AHS61 classmates.

The delegation from Legaspi included Armand, Glo, Moks and Nol.

All the Manila-based classmates attended except Boy Ordiz who is in Davao

and Xenia whose company was also celebrating its annivesary.

Beer and wine were in bottomless mode and the spirit was willing but.... well, you know the rest of the line.

Kita-kits at Mcdo for the 5-minute ride to Max's residence; and Maritz promptly served coffee when we arrived at their spacious home.

Max had all kinds of wine but I could only remember Roger explaining the difference between whisky and brandy since I took to the red wine which tasted much like tuba. Thanks, M&M, for the wines.

We had our fill of fine dishes, but especially the pinangat and the lengua, which were a good combination, and later the fruit salad. Bing and I were even able to take home the last remaining piece of pinangat to the envy of others.

The serious part of the dinner party was our business meeting where  Armand reported on the latest development on the  AHS61, especially the completion of the registration of the BCMI. I will post the pertinent papers and program of the BCMI later.

Glo and Eve/Thur had Xmas gifts for everyone.

Long-distance chat with Oca in Houston, Texas

(Feeling AHStro-nuts kaming lahat talking with Da Nut

in Houston Control)

Max initiated a call to Oca

at 5 AM, Texas time

Armand Glo
Eve Thur Roger

Everybody had a good time talking with Oca. Max roused him from his sleep at 5 in the morning. Kinumusta siya ng lahat, at siempre kinumusta rin si Liliana, who, Roger texted, is the youngest honorary AHS61 classmate in the great tradition of Maritz, Bing and the rest..

Vic Felix Mon, blank, since I could not take a photo of myself while talking with Oca

We called it a day at around 10 in the evening. To the birthday celebrant and host, we chorused "Thank you very Max" and "Merry ChristMax" as Max and Maritz saw us off in two cars.

Later that night, Thur summed it up in a text message:

"A FINE DAY FOR A VERY HAPPY AND WONDERFUL CELEBRATION. ANOTHER AFFAIR FOR US TO REMEMBER. JUST ARRIVED HOME."

Roger, after learning about Oca's latest email about developments in his exciting life, texted early this morning:

"LILIANA MUST BE OUR YOUNGEST MEMBER. WE CAN DISPENSE WITH HAZING TO FORMALLY ACCEPT HER."

What can one say to all this, except: it is really very nice to grow old with classmates from AHS61  because you feel younger every time you meet them and have an easy and leisurely chat. It is as if one has discovered Juan Ponce de Leon's fountain of youth.

Mabuhay tayong lahat and keep fit for the golden anniversary!
