The 2006 AHS61 Reunion (2)

The old Albay High School grounds

Early Preparations

Legaspi City

May 18-21, 2006

Our Secretariat and Steering Committee prepared well our venue for the celebratory activities marking the 45th anniversary of our graduation from Albay High School. We had a welcome streamer at the main gate to the campus, tarpaulin streamers and balloons trumpeting the event.

This is how the campus now looks as you enter Gate 1, the first gate if you are coming from Legaspi. We had three tents near the old acacia tree that must be about a hundred years old now. The walk-thru is from left to right, and top to bottom of this page.

This is the high school main building we learned to love for 4 years in the late 50s.

The building is being cleaned out and repaired in preparation for the coming school year. Pix 2 is the door of the old principal's office, Pix 3 is the principal's office as seen from the outside, and Pix 4 is the new principal's office carved out from the old cavernous library and auditorium.

View of the corridor  at the right side of the building (you are standing in front of the old principal's office).

The old quadrangle (looking towards Legaspi); the rooms to the right, the 1st room being the old biology room but now the physics room  (pix 2)

The old quadrangle (looking towards Daraga); the rooms to the left (pix 4), with the former Biology room at the corner

It is now the Physics Room. In our time, this was the Biology Room

This is the present Biology Room. This used to be the General Science room of Mrs. Borlagdan where she had 2 microscopes safely locked in a glass-covered shelf.

For one whole year in our second year we kept wondering when we would ever have the opportunity to use this invention of Anton Van Leuwenhook. Mercifully, before that school year ended, we were allowed to examine the stomata of a gumamela leaf through the powerful lens of the microscope.

The sports stadium as seen from the back of the principal's office. The stadium was also the armory of the PMT class where wooden rifles were kept.

The school philosophy, vision and mission. I do not remember that we had this in our time ->

On the afternoon of the 18th, some of us went to the venue to check out the preparations being made by hired crew and to meet with classmates. Shown here are the crew setting up the tents and the streamer, with classmates acting as capataz, na madalas  nakakagulo pa nga. ;-))
